I have several orchids in my extensive collection of houseplants. Although most of the year they look almost invisible with nothing more to display than a dense cluster of waxy leaves, sooner or later, they generously compensate your patience with a burst of wild beauty. However, as is the case with most of my artwork, this piece was not created in a premeditated manner, but rather led me to explore the potentially infinite possibilities of the textured canvas. Do you see orchids? Not everyone does—some see the red crests of roosters.
